Chaska claims an unusual mixture of accolades. A Forbes Magazine article in 2005 talked-up the town’s forward-thinking broadband service, but called it “backwater” and “a blue collar suburb.” Most people don’t think this way. A more thoughtful article in a 2007 Money Magazine named it the “8th best place to live.”
What did Forbes mean by calling our town “backwater?” Perhaps the author confuses “backwater” with the picture postcard scenery that graces the countryside with trees, hills, water, and wildlife. Maybe Forbes came to town from the western side of town, and missed the fact that we are only minutes away from downtown Minneapolis, two airports, and the Mall of America.
Where did the “blue collar” come from? Is it the fact that there are many nice starter and mid-range Chaska homes for sale? “Blue collar?” So what! Probably a majority of my clients are blue-collar, and I find them be very knowledgeable buyers who make good decisions. They are also the best clients that anyone could possibly have. If they meant “blue collar” as a slur, it just doesn’t fit. We all work for a living. Besides, there are plenty of high-end luxury Chaska homes for sale if you just drive up the hill from downtown. The author must not have explored the community very well. The town began as a “clay-hole,” but now claims a robust economy that runs the gamut from electronics to light industry.
This town of about 22,500 residents is the seat of Carver County. If you are looking for a Carver County MN home, you will find that the community has plenty to offer. Is Chaska a good place to call “home?” The locals who have children certainly think it is. District 112 pupils continue to score above state average for all grade levels, as demonstrated by the results for the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment II (MCA II).

This community is one of my favorites when it comes to Minnesota real estate. I can always find something for everyone here on the MLS system. The inventory contains a wonderful mixture of starter homes, expensive homes, and plenty of new construction.
Typically, there are about 100 or so single family Chaska MN homes for sale at any given time. If your timing is right, you just might be able to grab a multimillion dollar 5000 square foot in Wetzel Woods, complete with a swimming pool and twenty acres or so. That should give your family plenty of room.
At a price range that is more realistic for most of us, you can see some brand new Chaska homes in Liberty Heights or some existing construction in neighborhoods like Jonathan or Heather Ridge.
